Rwanda to Host 26th EAPCCO General Assembly and SWAT Challenge in January 2025

Rwanda will host the 26th General Assembly of the East Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) from January 26 to 31, 2025. The event will bring together senior police officials from 14 East African countries.

The goal is to discuss regional security issues and strengthen cooperation. This year’s theme is “Strengthening Cooperation in Preventing and Combating Terrorism, Transnational Crime, and Emerging Threats.”

The assembly will focus on solutions to cybercrime and cross-border crimes. Police officials will work together to develop strategies and improve cooperation.

EAPCCO was founded in 1998. It includes 14 countries: Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Comoros, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Sudan, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Seychelles, and Somalia.

For the first time, the assembly will feature the “EAPCCO SWAT Challenge.” From January 29 to 30, police teams from member countries will compete at the Counter-Terrorism Training Centre in Mayange, Bugesera District.

The competition will test physical strength, teamwork, and tactical skills. Teams that perform well will receive awards.

The General Assembly will help improve regional security. It will encourage collaboration and knowledge-sharing between countries to tackle security challenges.
